-Phomopsis is a fungal disease that presents as oblong patterns of reddish-brown to tan lesions. Often centered on or encompassing a portion of the areole and has a light tan border surrounding the lesion. The black pycnidia fruiting bodies are scattered uniformly within. Phomopsis sporulation is favored in cool, wet weather; though grows aggressively at 84 deg F.
+Phomopsis is a fungal disease that presents as uniform circular patterns with raised brown to tan lesions, often surrounded by reddish-brown and distinctly defined border. Small black pinhead dots are pycnidia fruiting structures where the spores are produced. Phoma rarely grows to large size and is not necessarily centered on areoles. Can be an aggressive pathogen and thrives in humid, warm and wet conditions. 82 degrees F is optimal for growth.
