====== Andre the Giant ======

===== Description =====
//Trichocereus pachanoi// 'Andre the Giant' is a cultivar of the species //Trichocereus pachanoi//. Detailed morphological descriptions regarding its specific rib count, spine length, spine color, areole structure, and epidermis color are not well-documented in community records. It is recognized as a distinct clone, separate from the European cultivar 'Andrew the Giant'.

===== History & Origin =====
The exact origin and breeder of 'Andre the Giant' remain unconfirmed. In the United States, the clone was historically distributed on eBay, notably by the seller KC121004. It is occasionally confused with 'Andrew the Giant', a clone found in Tenerife by Andrea Rossi (which Rossi crossed with 'Zorro'). However, community consensus confirms that 'Andre the Giant' is a separate, distinct clone circulating in the US.

===== Cultivation Notes =====
According to grower reports, 'Andre the Giant' is a slow-growing clone compared to other //Trichocereus pachanoi// cultivars. General cultivation guidelines for //T. pachanoi// apply: it prefers well-draining soil, deep but infrequent watering during the growing season, and partial to full sun depending on regional intensity.

===== Community Discussion & Citations =====
//The community discussion highlights the distinction between 'Andre the Giant' (a US clone) and 'Andrew the Giant' (a European clone associated with Andrea Rossi). There is speculation that some seed batches or crosses (such as 'Zorro x Andrew the Giant') have been mislabeled as 'Andre the Giant' due to name similarity. Additionally, its distribution history is tied to eBay sales in the US, where it remains relatively uncommon.//

^ Date ^ Speaker ^ Confidence Score ^ Key Insight/Quote ^
| 2025 (approx) | Andrea Rossi | 8 | "I heard of "Andre the giant" (after I named mine "Andrew the giant") but I don't know its background" |
| 2025 (approx) | James Buchanan | 7 | "here in the united states we have a pachanoi named Andre the Giant. I'm not sure of it's origins unfortunately. It's a nice clone but grows extremely slow for me. It was sold on EBAY for a while. Not very common." |

===== Credibility Notes =====
Andrea Rossi is rated highly (8/10) as he is the creator of the 'Zorro x Andrew the Giant' cross and was able to definitively clarify the naming confusion between 'Andrew' and 'Andre'. James Buchanan is rated 7/10 for providing specific, firsthand cultivation observations (slow growth rate) and geographical context (US distribution via eBay) for the true 'Andre the Giant' clone.
