====== annie & bert ======

===== Description =====
This Peruvian Trichocereus clone is highly sought after for its diverse and unstable growth habits. It is known to exhibit three distinct growth forms: a crested (cristate) form, a variegated form, and a standard columnar ("normal") form. While specific rib counts, spine lengths, and spine colors are highly variable due to this extreme morphological instability, the standard columnar form typically displays a glaucous blue-green epidermis, distinct ribs, and prominent felted areoles characteristic of Peruvian Trichocereus species. Its defining feature is its tendency to spontaneously transition from normal columnar growth into crested, monstrose, or variegated forms.

===== History & Origin =====
The "annie & bert" clone originates from the Netherlands. It was sourced from a private botanical garden owned by an elderly couple named Anny and Bert. According to community reports, this botanical garden permanently closed its doors around the winter of 2024–2025 (referred to as "last winter" in discussions from mid-2025).

===== Cultivation Notes =====
Cultivators should be aware of the clone's high genetic instability. Normal columnar cuttings are highly prized as they frequently transition into crested or monstrose forms, or spontaneously throw variegation. Standard Trichocereus cultivation practices apply, though extra care should be taken with the variegated and crested portions, which may be more sensitive to intense sunlight and overwatering.

===== Credibility Notes =====
Andrea Rossi is a highly trusted community member (8.6/10) who provided first-hand cultivation observations regarding the reversion and transition of the different growth phases. Yoav Golan (8.5/10) provided the primary historical background and morphological description of the clone, which is consistent with European collection histories. Daan Romp (7.0/10) provided specific timeline details regarding the closure of the original botanical garden in the Netherlands.
