====== ccc ======

===== Description =====
"ccc" refers to clones originating from the California Cactus Center, initially distributed as //Trichocereus peruvianus// and //Trichocereus peruvianus// monstrose. Botanically, these plants are characterized by having significantly shorter spines than typical //T. peruvianus// phenotypes, which led to their historical community designations as "short spine peruvianus" and "short spine peruvianus monstrose." While specific rib counts, spine colors, and exact epidermis glaucousness were not explicitly detailed in the discussion, their modern classification under //Trichocereus pachanoi// and //Trichocereus pachanoi// monstrose indicates standard //T. pachanoi// morphology, featuring rounded ribs, small felted areoles, and short radial and central spines.

===== History & Origin =====
The clone designation "ccc" stands for California Cactus Center, the original nursery source that offered and distributed these plants. Originally marketed as //Trichocereus peruvianus// and //Trichocereus peruvianus// monstrose, the distinct short-spine morphology prompted collectors to informally label them "short spine peruvianus" and "short spine peruvianus monstrose." Over time, community consensus and taxonomic understanding evolved, reclassifying these plants as //Trichocereus pachanoi// and //Trichocereus pachanoi// monstrose. Related clones and designations associated with this lineage in community discussions include TPM, TPnonM, JS01, JS239, JS240, JS345, Toad, Gator, and Awful.

===== Cultivation Notes =====
Specific cultivation notes were not provided in the community discussion. As //Trichocereus pachanoi// cultivars, general care guidelines apply: cultivate in a well-draining, mineral-rich soil substrate and provide ample sunlight to maintain healthy epidermis coloration and robust rib structure. Water thoroughly during the active growing season while allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Protect plants from freezing temperatures and maintain dry soil conditions during winter dormancy.

===== Community Discussion & Citations =====
//Analysis of the discussion.//
The community discussion provides critical historical clarification regarding the acronym "ccc" and its taxonomic history. Expert contributor Lawrence Smith clarified that "ccc" refers to the California Cactus Center and explained how the plants' short spine morphology led to their reclassification from //T. peruvianus// to //T. pachanoi//. Other participants, Chris Cosby and Mickey Hunter, acknowledged and confirmed this information.

===== Credibility Notes =====
Lawrence Smith was assigned a confidence score of 10 in accordance with the expert override criteria for recognized community authorities. His contribution provided precise historical documentation regarding the nursery origin (California Cactus Center), morphological characteristics (spine length), taxonomic reclassification, and cross-references to related clones. Other commenters provided supportive feedback but did not contribute independent factual details, placing them below the citation threshold.
