===== Description =====
CSD is a highly sought-after clone of //Trichocereus bridgesii// that grows in a very unique monstrose way. While it displays more typical bridgesii pattern growth when small or grafted, once well established or degrafted it is renowned for its distinct apical morphology, featuring angular geometric patterns of deep notches and rib valley angles. It also displays tiny, recessed areoles and spines are typically very short or absent. The epidermis is noted for a vibrant, "tree frog green" color and a glaucous texture.

===== History & Origin =====
CSD was seed grown by Sam Frankel aka "Ferret" on SAB (Shaman Australis Botanicals board). In 2007, Ferret sowed bridgesii seeds he aquired from fellow SAB member beeker. While the seedlings got mixed up, it was either ‘SS02 X [Juul's X peruv]’ or ‘ss01 x ss02’. Our specific seedling that later became known as CSD did not grow more than 1cm in a whole year while its siblings grew to 7 or 8cm. It was then grafted. The first mature growth photo was posted in 2011. It was named in a giveaway in 2014 after another SAB member "Chemical Shaman" who passed away 4 years prior. Since, the clone has been distributed globally, with documented specimens in Australia, New Zealand, and the United States.

===== Cultivation Notes =====
CSD is known to be slow-growing and is frequently grafted to accelerate development and induce its "classic" semi-monstrose appearance. Community members suggest that the clone requires full sun to properly express its unique phenotypic traits, particularly in cooler climates like New Zealand. It is extremely sensitive to environmental conditions: it commonly is afflicted by fungal or oedema issues from moisture. Like other semi-monstrose //bridgesii//, it benefits from a well-draining mineral soil and careful watering to prevent rot.

===== Community Discussion & Citations =====
//The discussion revolves around the authenticity and lineage of CSD, with significant focus on its relationship to Pumacayan genetics. While some community members express skepticism regarding "fake" cuts in circulation, others focus on the environmental requirements needed to trigger the clone's unique morphology. The consensus points toward a hybrid origin (SS02 x bridgesii) and emphasizes the role of grafting in achieving the desired aesthetic.//

| 2022 (approx) | Gee Bee | "Adam Haney you have a clone from the mother stand, cl. Pumacayan" |
| 2022 (approx) | Huan Shuma | "Pumacayan comes from the genetic we released in 2017 and 2018 - collected in Huaraz city at ruins of Pumacayan ancient originary people - its a genetic sold and shared by Chavin Herbalists - Patrick sold our seeds as well and so that the reason origen of the seed was Patrick - but we definitely was the source 😃" |
| 2022 (approx) | Todd Keller | "There's a couple clones that were field collected and open pollinated seeds that were distributed. This is another case where provenance is extremely important." |
| 2023 (approx) | Stefan Wanner | "I like the tiny areoles that seem to be sucked inside the cactus and the very short spines in this early stage!" |
| 2022 (approx) | Krüz Kalke | "Seems to be the case that CSD is SS02 x bridgesii (probably SS seed, given the timeline)" |
| 2021 (approx) | David Gonzalez | "So if you let it grafted long enough it will do it, I have one just starting to get funky, and it's grafted." |
| 2022 (approx) | Ben McCrystal | "i believe it needs full sun in nz conditions to show traits. mine isnt fully there yet but belive its on its way too" |
| 2022 (approx) | Adam Haney | "Gee Bee I was blown away by this one; was expecting it to be 1/4 the size. It's doing great!" |
