===== Description =====
"China Gold" is a highly sought-after variegated Trichocereus clone characterized by its striking yellow to gold variegation. While specific rib counts and spine measurements are not heavily documented, it presents the typical columnar morphology of variegated Trichocereus cultivars, prized for its vibrant contrast against the green epidermis.

===== History & Origin =====
The exact breeder and genetic lineage of "China Gold" remain undocumented. It is known to be a mass-produced clone originating from China. Specimens began appearing in international collector circles after being imported by growers around 2023 (approx) or earlier.

===== Cultivation Notes =====
This clone is notorious for being an extremely slow grower when cultivated on its own roots, with some growers reporting that cuttings can take up to 20 months to establish roots. Once rooted, its growth rate remains very slow ("like molasses"). To bypass these cultivation difficulties, grafting onto vigorous rootstocks is highly recommended. Foliar feeding may also assist specimens that are struggling to establish.

===== Credibility Notes =====
James Buchanan was assigned a high confidence score due to his direct, first-hand experience importing the clone from China, successfully cultivating it both as a degraft and on graft, and providing detailed observations on its growth rate.
