===== Description =====
"Lupita (MT06)" is a robust Trichocereus clone characterized by its exceptionally sturdy growth habit. Stems can reach a notable thickness of up to 13 cm in diameter. The areoles are closely set and produce numerous short, needle-like spines that are distinctly black in color during early development. The epidermis and rib structure present a classic strong columnar form typical of Huaraz-type Trichocereus populations.

===== History & Origin =====
The mother plant of this clone was located in Huaraz, Peru. In 2013, it was documented growing in front of a local supermarket named "Lupita," which served as the inspiration for the clone's name. The "MT06" designation is associated with the distributor/collector "MT". Early cuttings from the original mother plant were secured around 2013, and the clone has since transitioned into European and global collections, with some specimens cultivated since at least 2018.

===== Cultivation Notes =====
This clone is described as "sturdy as hell," indicating a strong resistance to environmental stressors. It performs well when allowed to grow out fully to achieve its maximum stem width of 13 cm. Standard Trichocereus cultivation practices apply: utilize a highly gritty, well-draining soil mix, provide deep watering during the active growing season only after the substrate has completely dried, and ensure ample direct sunlight to maintain its dense spination and robust girth.

===== Community Discussion & Citations =====
The community discussion centers on verifying the provenance of the clone and sharing historical context regarding the mother plant. While some initial skepticism was raised regarding the reliability of online database listings, direct communication with the collector "MT" confirmed the legitimacy of the clone's designation. Furthermore, firsthand accounts from early collectors established the precise location and physical characteristics of the mother plant in Peru.

Sturdy as hell, I got one of the first cuttings from the original growth, 13 cm across, very many short needle-like, black spines growing from the aereols." |
