===== Description =====
There is no specific botanical description available for the clone "malo1" in the provided community records. In the broader "malo" series of Trichocereus, plants exhibit diverse morphologies ranging from slender, pachanoid forms to robust, thick-stemmed specimens, as each numbered "malo" represents a distinct genetic cross rather than vegetative cuts of a single clone.

===== History & Origin =====
The "malo" series of plants originates from a grower and online community member known as "malo" on the forum *The Nook*. Historically, this individual, along with other forum members such as "osprey," sourced botanical material and cuts directly from the distributor Karel Knize (KK).

While the exact parentage of "malo1" is undocumented in the provided discussion, the numbered "malo" designations represent entirely different hybrid crosses rather than selections from a single seed batch. For context, other numbers in the series include "malo 4" (a cross of *T. huarazensis* x *T. scopulicola*), "malo 2" (suspected to involve the cultivar 'Lumberjack'), and "malo 7" (showing traits of 'SS02').

===== Cultivation Notes =====
No specific cultivation requirements are recorded for "malo1." Standard care for Trichocereus species should be observed:
* **Substrate:** A highly porous, well-draining mineral soil mix (50% pumice, perlite, or gravel).
* **Watering:** Deep watering during the active spring and summer growing seasons, allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Keep entirely dry during winter dormancy.
* **Lighting:** Bright, indirect light to full sun once acclimated, depending on regional intensity.

| 2024 (approx) | Bob Baker | "No, For instance the plant i call malo2 looks to be a Lumberjack cross and one i call malo7 hints of SS02. The flowers on Malo8 are distinctly blunted & its a fairly fat & robust plant. Malo5 is a slender pachnoid" |
| 2022 (approx) | Bob Baker | "circa that time frame & before certain nook members were sourcing cuts directly from KK. As i vaguely recall, malo was one of those people, another was nook member osprey" |
| 2022 (approx) | Logan Jensen | "malo 4 is actually a huarazensis x scop cross known for growing very fast. Each 'malo' is a different cross of cultivars." |
| 2022 (approx) | MRob Hemphill | "malo 4 is Hz x Scop" |

===== Credibility Notes =====
* **Bob Baker** is treated as an expert override due to his historical knowledge of early forum sourcing (The Nook, Karel Knize imports) and direct experience growing out and observing the morphological differences of the various numbered "malo" selections.
* **Logan Jensen** and **MRob Hemphill** demonstrate consensus regarding the parentage of "malo 4" (*T. huarazensis* x *T. scopulicola*), confirming that the numbering system denotes distinct hybrid combinations.
