===== Description =====
This clone, standardly known as "PC" (Predominant Cultivar) and also distributed under names such as "Dave's Terminator" and "Mariscal," exhibits a semi-monstrose and terminating growth habit alongside standard columnar growth. It features a noticeably low rib count, felted areoles, and short to vestigial spines. The epidermis varies from vibrant green to glaucous blue-green depending on light intensity and growing environment. It has a distinct tendency to terminate its growing tips, creating truncated stumps that subsequently initiate lateral pupping and stacking. Depending on local microclimates, it frequently reverts to a standard upright columnar PC phenotype. Morphological comparisons have also been drawn between low-rib PC mutations, //Trichocereus huanucoensis//, and spineless Lima-style //Trichocereus pachanoi// forms such as "Capistrano."

===== History & Origin =====
The specific selection distributed as "Dave's Terminator" (originally labeled "Mariscal") was sourced by grower Dave Link from Mariscal Nursery, a supplier that routinely stocks standard PC stock. Link grew out the specimen for several years before offering cuts online under the username "diggadeeel" and eventually listing it as a new cultivar ("Monstrose"). Due to demand for the terminating phenotype, other local sellers acquired PC cuttings from Mariscal Nursery and Silver Dollar Nursery to imitate the listings. Consequently, true "Dave's Terminator" cuts trace back to Dave Link's original mother plant, whereas unverified market cuts under this label are often standard nursery PC.

Community observations also note the presence of significant PC stands in California, including a massive pachanoi stand situated within a 100-foot strip of PC on a farm in Santa Cruz County, and the historic San Juan Bautista (SJB) bridge stand, which has reportedly been heavily harvested and reduced to minimal remaining growth.

Community speculation by Planet Rick and P. Nolls notes that certain specimens displaying low rib counts and broad morphology may represent mislabeled //Trichocereus huanucoensis//, though formal botanical origin remains unconfirmed. Additional discussions mention related or distinct clones including "Capistrano" (a spineless Lima-style pachanoi originating from collector Trevor's collection), "Ventucky Blue", "TPC" (a monstrose clone associated with Nitrogen), and "Geronimo" (or "Mt. Geronimo", a peruzco-like clone named after its street location).

===== Cultivation Notes =====
* **Apical Termination & Pupping:** When apical meristems terminate, the plant redirects growth into new lateral pups from the base or stump. Terminated tips can be taken as scions for grafting, though success rates vary; failed grafts frequently pup from the terminated stock base.
* **Phenotypic Reversion:** The semi-monstrose stacking habit is environmentally dependent. In certain climates or growing conditions, plants will cease terminating and revert to standard continuous columnar PC growth.
* **General Care:** Standard //Trichocereus pachanoi// care applies: utilize mineral-rich, well-draining soil mixes, provide direct sun to develop glaucous blue-green tones, and water regularly during active warm-season growth. Other associated cultivars like "Geronimo" are noted for their rapid growth and adaptability to a wide range of climates.

| 2022 (approx) | Dave Link | "It's a cut I got from Mariscal nursery and named after it. Have been growing it out for a few years now... Changed it to Dave’s terminator... So if you bought it from me on Facebook or eBay under diggadeeel, it's my cut, if you bought it from this person, it's a random cut from either mariscal or silver dollar." |
| 2022 (approx) | Dave Link | "So now I just list it as Monstrose, it came from me is the new CV 🤙" |
| 2023 (approx) | Alan Howard | "If you google named clones I think you will find what you want... Australia and US and UK will have different things avaable mostly." |
| 2023 (approx) | Christopher Mills | "There's one from Nitrogen called TPC but I don't know much about it" |
| 2025 (approx) | Planet Rick | "Almost sure is a mislabeled Huanucoensis. Morphology and low ribs count is very huanuco, P. Nolls agrees. But we can't be sure." |
| 2025 (approx) | Oriole Gardens | "Yes, that was a great deal for 3ft of capistrano. You most likely got it from Trevor's girlfriend, i was helping her to sell some pieces and the platform she used was etsy where she sold her planters as well." |
| 2025 (approx) | Oriole Gardens | "one of my top 10 favorite spineless lima style pachanoi!" |
