{{clones:r:media:rio_rimac:8bb2f644b2f93589.jpg?400}}

===== Description =====
Rio Rimac is a blue-glaucous *Trichocereus peruvianus* (Peruvian Torch) clone. It is recognized for its distinct blue epidermis. Detailed botanical metrics such as specific rib counts, spine length, spine coloration, and areole spacing are not fully documented in the initial community reports, but it is visually characterized as a classic blue Peruvianoid.

===== History & Origin =====
The clone is named after the Rímac River (Río Rímac), which flows through the Lima region of Peru, indicating its geographical origin. There is strong community consensus that "Rio Rimac" is closely associated with the "Rimac Valley" clone originally distributed by Verne (Cactus Kate) and the "Rimac" clone sold by Cactus Affinity, likely representing the same clone or collections from the same wild population.

===== Cultivation Notes =====
No clone-specific cultivation requirements were detailed in the community discussion. Standard care for *Trichocereus peruvianus* applies:
* **Soil:** Use a highly gritty, well-draining substrate (e.g., 50% pumice, perlite, or gravel mixed with 50% organic potting soil).
* **Watering:** Water deeply only when the soil has dried out completely. Reduce watering significantly during the winter dormancy period.
* **Lighting:** Prefers bright, filtered light or partial sun, though it can be acclimated to full sun in milder climates.
