===== Description =====
"Scop x VRG" is a hybrid cross between Trichocereus scopulicola and "VRG" (Valera Red Grandiflorus). The most notable feature of this hybrid is its flower production; the flowers exhibit significant variation in color from seedling to seedling, similar to crosses like Trichocereus arboricola x Red Grandiflorus. While flower color varies greatly across different specimens of the cross, the flower color on individual plants remains relatively consistent across subsequent blooms. Detailed vegetative morphology, such as rib count, spine length, and epidermis color, is not fully documented in the source discussion, but typically presents intermediate traits between the minimally spined, robust T. scopulicola and the spiny, multi-ribbed grandiflorus parent.

===== History & Origin =====
This hybrid represents a cross between Trichocereus scopulicola and a red-flowering grandiflorus clone. Seeds and specimens have been active in the collecting community since at least 2021. While the exact breeder of the primary distributed batch is not explicitly confirmed, grower Aaron Furbee noted utilizing AA010 pollen in related breeding work.

===== Cultivation Notes =====
No specific cultivation challenges were noted in the community discussion. Standard Trichocereus cultivation guidelines apply:
* **Soil:** Use a highly gritty, well-draining soil mix (at least 50% inorganic material such as pumice, perlite, or gravel).
* **Watering:** Water thoroughly during the active spring and summer growing seasons, allowing the substrate to dry out completely between waterings. Keep dry during winter dormancy.
* **Light:** Provide bright, filtered light or full sun once the plant is fully acclimated.
