===== Description =====
"Sharxx Blue" is a highly celebrated clone of *Trichocereus* (syn. *Echinopsis*), widely recognized for its intense glaucous blue epidermis. It exhibits morphological features characteristic of *Trichocereus peruvianus*, including prominent ribs, distinct areoles, and strong spination. The clone is noted for its visual similarity to other selections from the same origin, specifically "Dawson's #1" and "Dawson's #2", leading to community consensus that these clones likely originated from the same seed batch. While some community members have compared its appearance to *T. peruvianus* "Icaros DNA", this connection remains speculative.

===== History & Origin =====
The clone was discovered by Steve Sharxx at Dawson's Cactus Garden, a well-known botanical property located in central Victoria, Australia. Steve Sharxx subsequently introduced the plant to the Australian cactus community, distributing cuttings to other growers (including Rodni/Rodney Chisar). The clone was named "Sharxx Blue" in his honor. While Shaman Australis Botanicals (SAB) and associated figures like "PD" assisted in its later distribution, the primary early dissemination of the clone is attributed directly to Steve Sharxx. The establishment of Dawson's Cactus Garden predates the late-1990s circulation of *T. peruvianus* "Icaros DNA" seeds, supporting the consensus that "Sharxx Blue" is a distinct, older Australian lineage rather than an Icaros selection.

===== Cultivation Notes =====
As a robust *Trichocereus*, "Sharxx Blue" thrives under standard active-growth conditions:
  * **Substrate:** A highly gritty, well-draining soil mix (at least 50-70% inorganic material such as pumice, perlite, or gravel) to prevent root rot.
  * **Watering:** Implement a "soak and dry" regimen, watering deeply only when the soil has completely dried out. Reduce watering significantly during winter dormancy.
  * **Light:** Prefers bright, filtered light to full sun. Adequate sunlight is necessary to promote the development of its signature thick, glaucous blue wax coating.
  * **Feeding:** Apply balanced low-nitrogen fertilizers during the spring and summer growing seasons.

He discovered the plant at a well known garden in central Victoria know as Dawson's and started spreading it into the community. There are a couple of other stunning blues that originate from that same garden that I have labeled T. peruvianus Dawsons #1 and Dawsons #2, all three are similar with slight variations, most likely grown from the same seed batch. Hope that helps 😊”" |

===== Credibility Notes =====
  * **David gonzalez** (9/10): Provided direct, primary-source correspondence from Rodni (Rodney Chisar), a prominent Australian grower who received the clone directly from Steve Sharxx. This provides concrete historical provenance.
  * **Hubert F Alberquerqe** (8/10): Demonstrated consistent, detailed knowledge of the Australian cactus scene, the history of Dawson's Cactus Garden, and the timeline of the clone's distribution, debunking speculative links to later seed imports like Icaros DNA.
  * **James Buchanan** (7.7/10): Provided helpful context by researching the Shaman Australis Botanicals (SAB) shop listings and forum history to verify the origin claims.
  * **Chris Reeb** (7/10): Contributed valuable chronological context regarding the timeline of Dawson's Garden establishment versus the introduction of Icaros DNA seeds in the late 1990s.
