====== T. Bridgesii cv. Sugar Magnolia ======
{{clones:s:media:sugar_magnolia:f3533c6660d6f3dc.jpg?400}}

===== Description =====
Specific morphological descriptions (such as rib count, spine length, spine color, and precise epidermal coloration) for ''Trichocereus bridgesii'' cv. Sugar Magnolia are not detailed in the primary source material. However, as a cultivar of ''T. bridgesii'', it typically exhibits the classic characteristics of the species, which generally includes a shrubby growth habit, light green to glaucous blue-green epidermis, 4 to 8 ribs, and prominent areoles bearing honey-colored to brownish spines.

===== History & Origin =====
The cultivar "Sugar Magnolia" was selected and grown by the well-known Trichocereus collector and grower Gee Bee. The plant originated from a batch of seedlings obtained from "Richo" (presumably Richo Cech of Horizon Herbs / Strictly Medicinal Seeds) in 2014. Gee Bee raised the seedlings, eventually selecting and naming this specific clone. The name "Sugar Magnolia" and community references to "grateful energy" suggest a thematic connection to the Grateful Dead.

===== Cultivation Notes =====
No specific cultivation requirements for cv. Sugar Magnolia were detailed in the community discussion. In the absence of clone-specific data, standard care for arborescent *Trichocereus* species should be observed:
  * **Substrate:** A highly gritty, well-draining soil mix (typically 50% organic potting soil and 50% inorganic mineral grit such as pumice or perlite).
  * **Watering:** Thorough watering during the active spring and summer growing season, allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Water should be withheld almost entirely during winter dormancy to prevent root rot.
  * **Light:** Bright, filtered light to full sun, depending on local climate intensity. Glaucous clones often benefit from strong light to develop their characteristic blue coloration, though acclimation is necessary to prevent sunburn.

===== Credibility Notes =====
Gee Bee is recognized as an expert source regarding this cultivar, as they are the original grower who selected, named, and distributed the clone, providing direct historical context and dates. Other participants in the discussion (Bart Tabels, Brandon Allinger) offered appreciative commentary but did not provide additional historical or botanical data, and thus fell below the confidence threshold for direct quotation.
