====== Wowie ======

===== Description =====
Wowie is recognized as a cultivar of ''Trichocereus bridgesii'' (syn. ''Echinopsis lageniformis''). While specific morphological details such as precise rib count, areole spacing, and exact spine coloration are not extensively detailed in the immediate community discussion, it exhibits typical ''T. bridgesii'' characteristics. Cultivars of this species generally feature a light green to glaucous blue-green epidermis, prominent ribs, and honey-colored to brown spines of varying lengths.

===== History & Origin =====
Wowie originated as a ''Trichocereus bridgesii'' selection or cross from the prominent breeder and seed distributor known as Misplant. It has been widely distributed throughout the cactus community, frequently utilized in hybridization projects. A notable cross circulating in the community involves Wowie and the clone "Killer Green Cactus" (KGC), resulting in a large population of seedlings distributed among collectors. Its status as a Misplant offering is further corroborated by historical seed lists, which document crosses such as "1419 Bridgesii Wowie x Malo7".

===== Cultivation Notes =====
No specific cultivation requirements for Wowie were detailed in the community discussion. As a ''Trichocereus bridgesii'' cultivar, it generally thrives under standard trichocereus cultivation parameters:
  * **Substrate:** A highly gritty, well-draining soil mix (typically 50% to 70% inorganic material such as pumice or perlite) to prevent root rot.
  * **Watering:** Deep watering during the active growing season, allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Water should be withheld or severely restricted during winter dormancy.
  * **Light:** Bright, filtered light to full sun, though acclimation is necessary to prevent sunburn on the epidermis.

===== Community Discussion & Citations =====
The community discussion centers on clarifying the genetic background of Wowie and distinguishing it from its hybrid partners, specifically "Killer Green Cactus" (KGC). Commenters note that Wowie is a distinct Misplant bridgesii clone, whereas KGC has a separate, more colorful history tied to an early member of the online forum "The Nook" in Southern California. Additionally, community members shared documentation of historical seed lists featuring Wowie in official Misplant crosses.
