Description

T. pachanoi cv. Ayacucho Star is a clone imported into US by a Peruvian woman named Star Palomino Mackey and distributed by her on the Facebook group “The Trichocereus Community”. The motherstand has been with her family for many generations back in Peru. The plant was used by a shaman at a traditional Peruvian altar. The healer also used the clone Huancabamba Star. It displays classic pachanoi traits, can go near spineless in mature growth, displays some farina when grown in shade but can also be deep green in full sun. It has also produced some variegated streaked growth.

History & Origin

Ayacucho (Spanish pronunciation: [aʝaˈkutʃo], Quechua: Ayak'uchu) is the capital city of Ayacucho Region and of Huamanga Province in Peru. The word Ayachucho is derived from the words aya (“death” or “soul”) and k'uchu (“corner”), referencing a bloody battle that took place at the location in the Peruvian War of Independence.
