Trichocereus chalaensis is a columnar cactus native to the low-elevation coastal hills of Chala, Peru. This species forms shrubby clusters of dark green stems that grow 3 to 4 meters tall and up to 15 centimeters in diameter, characterized by 7 to 8 deeply notched ribs. Its sharp, straight spines emerge in striking dark brown or reddish-black hues before fading to grey, and it produces large, nocturnal white flowers near the stem tips.
