Description

CSD (Chemical Shamans Dildo) is a highly sought-after semi-monstrose clone of Trichocereus, generally classified as Trichocereus bridgesii. It is renowned for its distinct apical morphology, featuring tiny, recessed areoles that appear “sucked inside” the epidermis. The spines are typically very short or absent, particularly in the early stages of growth. The epidermis is noted for a vibrant, “tree frog green” color and a glaucous texture. As the plant matures or is grafted, it develops a “funky,” irregular growth habit characteristic of the clone's semi-monstrose nature.

History & Origin

While the exact origin of CSD remains a subject of community debate, there is a strong consensus that it originated from seed stock, specifically speculated to be a cross of SS02 x bridgesii (likely from Sacred Succulents) based on the timeline of its emergence. The clone has been distributed globally, with documented specimens in Australia, New Zealand, and the United States. It is frequently compared to the “Pumacayan” clone, a wild Trichocereus collected by Chavin Herbalists in 2017–2018 at the Pumacayan ruins in Huaraz, Peru, due to similar morphological traits.

Cultivation Notes

CSD is known to be slow-growing and is frequently grafted to accelerate development and induce its “classic” semi-monstrose appearance. Community members suggest that the clone requires full sun to properly express its unique phenotypic traits, particularly in cooler climates like New Zealand. It is sensitive to environmental conditions; without sufficient light, it may not develop the characteristic recessed areoles. Like other semi-monstrose bridgesii, it benefits from a well-draining mineral soil and careful watering to prevent rot.
