Description

Coyote is a found Trichocereus clone. It may be a hybrid, a short-spined T. peruvianus, or a long-spined T. pachanoi. It typically displays a blue glaucous farina, medium length yellow spines, moderate depth notching, and typically 5 - 8 ribs.

History & Origin

The clone was discovered and introduced to the community by Bashir Al-Saguari, also known as reddit user Grodysattva, around 2021 in East County, San Diego, California. Al-Saguari located the mother stands on the perimeter of a private property belonging to an ornamental succulent seller. According to the property owner, the specimen was originally sourced approximately 30 years prior (circa 1996) from growers near Alpine, California.

The clone was named β€œCoyote” by Al-Saguari during its collection, inspired by the sound of coyotes vocalizing in the canyon adjacent to the property.
